Calling all Songwriters!
Which Way the Wind Festival Songwriter Contest
Let your voice be heard! Submit your song to the Which Way the Wind Festival to be held at Synapsis, 1675 Union St., Eureka, Oct. 7-15, 2022. Selected songwriters will be asked to perform at Synapsis on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Our goal is to engage the Humboldt County community through the arts and advocate and support actions for peace and to increase awareness of the perils and costs of nuclear weapons and global climate threats.
Participating artists must be Humboldt County residents.
Songs should reflect the themes of global warming, the dangers of nuclear war and nuclear arms, and/or other environmental challenges that face our world. Cash prizes will be given for First Place ($500), Second ($300), and Third ($200) place winners.
Selected entries will be curated by the Which Way the Wind Board and community members. Jurors for the song writers are Jeff Pevar and Russ Cole.
About us: Which Way the Wind Festival was first created in 2018 by a group of community volunteers to draw attention to the nuclear threat to life on earth and to support a new voyage of the first nuclear protest vessel, the Golden Rule. Today the nexus between global warming, environmental degradation, defense spending, and nuclear power has led to broader issues threatening our world. We sponsored Festivals to bring awareness to these topics in 2018 and 2019, and are excited to continue this community event in 2022.
