2/8/58. San Pedro, Calif. This four man crew will sail the 30-foot “Golden Rule” to Eniwetok in the Marshall Islands, the United States’ nuclear testing grounds. The four plan to remain there as long as tests continue, as a protest against all nuclear explosions. It is possible the “Golden Rule” will set sail 2/10. Off to protest Nuclear Tests at Eniwetok—San Pedro, Calif…..Armed with only their bibles, four Americans sailed out of San Pedro Harbor today on a 30-foot ketch on the first leg of their journey to Eniwetok harbor, Marshall Islands, where they plan to protest the U. S. testing of nuclear weapons. Captain of the ketch is Albert Bigelow, an architect and ex-naval officer. He was a member of the group for “non-violent action against nuclear weapons’’” which staged a protest invasion of the AEC’s bomb-test site in Nevada recently.
