Call To Artists

Themes: Artwork can focus on global warming; dangers of nuclear war and nuclear arms; and/or other environmental challenges our world faces. It can also focus on more hopeful themes such as reverence and respect for nature; universal connection; and/or restoration.

Exhibition Dates: Oct. 7-15, Which Way the Wind Festival at Synapsis, 1675 Union St., Eureka, and Nov. 15-Dec. 12 at Redwood Art Association, 603 F St., Eureka.

Libby Maynard

A passionate supporter of the arts and artists, Ms. Maynard co-founded The Ink People Center for the Arts as a solution to her community’s economic woes in the in the late 1970s. As a result of her efforts, Eureka, CA/Humboldt County is today seen as a model community for the use of the arts as a means of healthy and positive cultural development. In addition to her work leading The Ink People, Ms. Maynard serves on the boards of directors of Access Humboldt, Alliance for California Traditional Arts and Humboldt County Workforce Investment Board. And since 2005, she has served as staff to the City of Eureka's Art & Culture Commission, and sits on Eureka Main Street's Public Arts Committee. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors in California.

Tamara Hubbard

Tamara Hubbard is a photographer and University Educator based in her native home of Humboldt County.  She has her Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography and has worked for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco since 2006. She has been the Associate Director of the Online Graduate Photography Program since 2010, through which she has had the honor of teaching students from six continents and countless countries.  In addition to chairing the MFA Thesis Committee and teaching travel photography, portfolio development, and composition & design classes, she also oversees the Photography Study Abroad program based in Florence, Italy. 

The primary emphasis of her current work is travel photography, mirroring her great passion for seeing the world, adventure, sailing, and collecting as many incredible life experiences as she can!
